Building Homes for Heroes® is a national non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2006.
Building Homes for Heroes is strongly committed to supporting the brave men and women of the military who have returned home from the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan with severe wounds and disabilities. It is the organization's goal to gift one mortgage-free home every 11 days, on average, to our nation's injured veterans who have served and sacrificed so much since September 11, 2001. It's our honor to support the men and women who have loyally and courageously served our country.

The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center
The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University Medical Center combines unprecedented family-oriented patient care and education with world-class diabetes research programs. Just a few years ago, access to comprehensive, multidisciplinary diabetes care was not available in New York. Now, thanks to the generous contributions of Russ Berrie, founder of Russ Berrie and Company, Inc., and other philanthropists, a new standard of diabetes care is available to the more than 8 million people with diabetes in the New York area.

Ethan and the Bean is a non-profit, New Jersey registered 501(c)(3) located in Little Falls, New Jersey. The goals are simple and from the heart: to increase the employment rate for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Ethan and the Bean provide a positive, empowering environment that supports individuals in a workplace community to train, gain, and contribute various skills related to employment, community building, self-esteem, and independent living.

Gregg’s Wings
Gregg was born on January 14, 1984, a healthy baby boy. Ten weeks later he started to show signs of respiratory distress. Gregg ended up in North Shore University Hospital in the Pediatric ICU under the care of the Pediatric Oncology Department. His team of doctors and nurses were all top notch and had hopes that the tumor in his chest was treatable. Shockingly there were major complications and Gregg died during surgery.
Two of Gregg’s doctors head up the Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop University Hospital. Winthrop’s Cancer Center for Kids is the largest outpatient facility for treating children with cancer and blood disorders in Nassau County. It is the County’s only member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), a prestigious international consortium of collaborating hospitals recognized as leaders in the treatment of childhood cancers. Gregg’s Wings has been able to donate $200,000 in three years to The Cancer Center for Kids.

The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation
The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation honors the memory of Andrew, a 14-year-old athlete and 'A' student from Wilmington, Delaware. January 27, 2007, Andrew helped lead his team to victory in a state championship soccer tournament. Within 48 hours, he was in cardiac arrest. The diagnosis was Leukemia (AML). The doctors didn't expect Andrew to live through the night. Amazingly, Andrew fought for 167 days and went to Heaven on July 14, 2007.
Throughout Andrew's illness, he inspired thousands of friends and families. We learned his blood type was B+, which became our motto throughout the fight, to "Be Positive." B+ reflected how Andrew lived his life and how he inspired others to do the same. Andrew's valiant journey was chronicled in newspapers, on television and on his website, where he and his family have received visits from almost 2 million "friends" leaving messages of prayer, hope, consolation, and stories about Andrew.

The Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation
The Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation enables children with special needs in the New York Metropolitan Area and the Northeast United States to experience summer camp. By partnering with existing accredited camps, the Foundation affords families the ability to send children into integrated camp settings.
The Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation believes that every child deserves the opportunity to participate in a safe, caring, and fun learning environment. The Foundation's primary goal is to allow each child to build self-esteem and friendships through integrated camping environments.
The first Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation camp program was launched in 2003 at the Cross Island YMCA in Bellerose, New York and was an enormous success. In developing this special camp, Jean Dattner, the Cross Island YMCA's Special Populations Director, realized a lifelong dream to serve an unserved population in the community, and will continue to provide her vision and leadership to the camp in the years to come.
